it started on a construction site. work being done on the boerentoren, the first skyscraper in europe, antwerp, 1932.
looking at the raw steel, the question came: "what is this already?" not what it could become. what it was.
that encounter produced the design. three plates. one bulb. nothing screwed, nothing riveted. the object holds through balance alone, the pieces lock into each other. the warmth of the filament against the cold of the steel.
